Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Director in the day to day administration and operation of the Food Service Division in sections appointed, ensuring maintenance of quality standards, staff performance and Patient satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. General Has complete knowledge on the food/beverage/service available in all sections of Food Service Division.
Ensures that Hygiene and Food Safety Management Policies, Fire & Life Safety Standards are explained to staff, and are correctly applied .
2. Operations Monitors and ensures smooth operations in all sections of Food Service Division.
Participates effective in coordinating and controlling departments.
Conducts regular tours of front and back of Food operations to check on set-up / service/food quality/general maintenance/cleanliness.
3. Planning .
Recommends improvements in all aspects of their appointed sections as appropriate.
Conducts market surveys as required and plans/implements appropriate measures to increase patient satisfaction .
keeps updated on new technology to improve work efficiency Coordinates with the Executive chef/section Manager on the set-up, implementation of Food Service and menu planning .
4. Staffing .
Participates in effective staff management (staff hiring / termination / transfers / overtime) .
Participates in divisional staff training/orientation. .
Observes staff individual performance/grooming/punctuality, and performs staff appraisals / disciplinary actions if required.
Ensures that the staff are equipped with proper working environment / tools / knowledge to enable them to be productive and efficient in their work .
Ensures application of procedures and regulations to staff concerning hygiene and sanitation / fire and safety / emergency procedures .
5. Communication .
Maintains regular Patient contact to obtain feedback .
Handles properly and tactfully verbal complaints from Patient / visitors .
Conducts / attends divisional and departmental meetings as required .
Ensures smooth and effective communication between Food Division and other departments in the hospital .
6. Quality Control .
Ensures that quality of food / beverage / service provided are consistently maintained .
Ensures that all materials, equipment and machinery are properly used and regularly cleaned, in order to prolong usage.
7. Cost Control.
Participates effectively and controls inventory taking / costs / breakage .
Practices economy of food, beverage, paper supplies, electricity and water
Assists the Director of Food Services in the planning of budget / forecast / CAPEX / P&L for the division.
Implements appropriate and effective measures to improve control of costs/expenses / labor.
8. Administration.
Prepares the Food? Division Report on a monthly basis (if applicable) .
Authorizes the daily outlet log book.
Review Duty Rosters in all sections and monitor staff? attendance.

Experience:

Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years’ experience in high quality food operation and administration is required
Knowledge of proper food handling preparation and storage
Strong interpersonal and mediation skills
Proficient in the use of PCs and spreadsheets
Strong oral and written? communication skills
Ability to speak and write in English is required
Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
Health care industry experience is preferred
Serve-safe certification is? preferred
Managerial and/or supervisory experience is essential

Education Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Food Service, Nutrition, Business Administration or? equivalent, is required
