Summary:

This position is responsible for providing services that promote, improve and manage health care across CCAD. This position is also responsible for serving as a support and clinical expert for the clinical nursing practice and/or in the management of the care of individuals and groups with chronic health problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Designs, implements and evaluates unit based educational offerings for nursing staff.
* Participates in the management of care for individuals and groups with complex health problems
* Ensures quality health care and coordinates care to positively influence patients’ outcomes
* Analyzes cost and quality factors related to patient outcomes
* Helps integrate the nursing practice with medical diagnosis and the treatment of disease, injury and disability
* Serves as a consultant and/or liaison to all health care professionals within CCAD and the community to influence and advance clinical practice
* Identifies educational needs across a continuum of patient care to facilitate the development of programs and materials for patients, families and health care team members
* Conducts research in nursing and evaluates findings that impacts clinical practice
* Communicates research findings to other health care professionals through formal and informal presentations
* Plans, implements and evaluates department orientation and educational activities for staff
* Manages and develops unit based educational programs
* Utilizes a variety of resources to resolve problems confronted in relation to various circumstances, including new technology, research protocols, changing patient population and new pharmacology

Experience:

* Minimum of four (4) years post graduate experience in appropriate and relevant health care setting is required
* Ability to identify and use appropriate concepts and principles from behavioral and biological sciences
* Strong program development, research and analytical skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to speak and write in English is required
* Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

Education Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required plus successful completion of a post graduate/post basic specialist training program of at least six (6) months duration
* Valid and current national nursing license is required
* Evidence of a passing NCLEX score is required
* BLS, ACLS and PALS relevant to area of specialty is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 30 lbs.
