Summary:
This position is responsible for leading and managing all departments that align with surgical care at CCAD. This position is also responsible for developing a philosophy of patient care that promotes excellent health care delivery and investigating alternative methods to improve operations. This position has explicit ownership/responsibility for outcomes and providing overall administrative management and support for evidence based nursing practice.
* Participates in the management of care for individuals and groups with complex health problems
* Implements improvement plans and new ideas within surgical care
* Maintains communication of all new initiatives to departmental employees
* Leads and manages clinical managers and supervisory staff to support the needs of patients within surgical services
* Maintains all standards required by accreditation agencies to deliver high quality health care
* Reviews proposed financial budgets and reports and maintains financial resources according to budget guidelines (fiscal responsibility)
* Investigates cost reduction initiatives
* Promotes safe, quality care based upon clinical conferences, new technology and changing practice
* Oversees and develops scheduling procedures and ensures that the automated scheduling system is used optimally
* Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and Magnet principles into clinical nursing care
* Minimum of eight (8) years post graduate experience is required
* Minimum of two (2) years experience in an assistant director of nursing position, or equivalent, or four (4) years experience in a senior charge nurse position in an acute care tertiary hospital is required
* Demonstrated understanding of clinical nursing skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to speak and write in English is required
* Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
* Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required
* Master’s degree in Health Service Management is preferred
* Valid and current national nursing license is required
* Evidence of a passing NCLEX score is required
* Certified proof of yearly CME is preferred
Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 30 lbs.
