Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking a qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist for a position at Fairview Hospital. This is an inpatient position and involves working with general medical and surgical patients. The successful applicant will provide clinical expertise on complex patient care issues to managers and staff; educate on new clinical processes or where deficits are identified; mentor new staff as needed; and occasionally lead Shared Governance Quality Improvement groups. We are looking for someone to help improve Nursing quality metrics and assist us in achieving Magnet Re-designation. The successful applicant must be somewhat self-directed, hold a current Ohio RN license, and possess a current Certificate of Authority from the Ohio Board of Nursing. No holiday or call required. There may be occasional weekend time needed. New graduates are welcome to apply.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the standard care arrangement with a collaborating physician, provides and manages the care of indivduals and groups with complex health problems across the healthcare continuuum. Provides health care services that promote, improve and manage health care within the nurses speciality and education. CNS with a current certificate to prescribe may, in collaboration with a physician, prescribe drugs and devices in accordance with the law. Serves as support and clinical expert for clinical nursing practice or in the management of of the care of individuals and groups with chronic health problems. They may specialize and be certified in Advanced Diabetes Management, Adult Health, Adult Psych/Mental Health, Child/Adolescent Psych, Gerontology, Pediatrics or Public/Community Health. Clinical nurse specialists are credentialed and privileged by the Cleveland Clinic Board of Governers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master's Degree required. Demonstrated mastery of nursing and ability to identify and use appropriate concepts and principles from related science e.g., behavioral sciences and biological sciences. Strong program development , research and analytical skills. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to utilize the electronic medical record.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Two years CNS experience required. Medical /Surgical nursing experience required.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
APN: must be a Registered Nurse with current licensure by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing; must be certified by a Certification Board recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing. A "Certificate to Prescribe" is also required.
Required Physical and Enviromental Demands
Typical physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
