Summary: Operates telephone console system and associated equipment. Processes medical emergency, crisis intervention, stat page, and disaster calls using prescribed protocols and procedures. Provides quality customer service.
Job Responsibilities: Receives and screens for proper call placement, all incoming and outgoing telephone traffic. Provides dialing support for all CCHS in-bound calls as required. Processes medical emergency, crisis intervention, child abduction, and disaster calls as prescribed by protocol. Reports telecommunications system, associated equipment and page system failures to Manager or Supervisor immediately. Processes after hour and on-call schedule traffic as prescribed by protocol. Uses AlphaMate and Intranet paging as prescribed by protocol. Processes TTY Communicator calls as required to assist hearing impaired patients. Processes 8:00am and 4:00pm test calls on time. Attends quarterly meetings as scheduled. Documents and turns into Supervisor notation of telecommunication system listings that are missing or incorrect. Keeps personal workstation reference materials up to date and workstation area neat. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of placing local, long distance and international calls and processing in-house caller requests for domestic and international directory assistance preferred.
Experience: Minimum one year telephone operator experience, healthcare experience preferred. Customer service and experience using CENTREX or PBX communications consoles and preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity sufficient to operate telecommunications console. Requires frequent sitting, audible speech and hearing, normal or corrected vision.
