Summary: Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more laboratory areas.
Job Responsibilities: Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens. Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner. Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, filing. Communicates test results to physicians. Phlebotomy duties. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: One year lab or clerical experience preferred. Phlebotomy experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and utilizing instrumentation. Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed. Requires ability to sit or stand extensively.
