Summary: Responsible for specific laboratory specimen, orders and information disposition. Performs specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues/problems. Performs general lab functions and quality assurance.
Job Responsibilities: Ensures appropriate prioritization, receipt and delivery of laboratory specimens. Ensures completion of documentation relative to specimen processing. Accepts and / or rejects specimens according to established standards. Performs data entry functions. Prepares specimens for analysis; aliquots, transports, and distributes specimens. Maintains tracking information for specimens. Maintains instrumentation and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and record keeping procedures. Maintain cleanliness of instrumentation / equipment. Maintains appropriate workstation supplies and inventory. Effectively uses laboratory computer systems to maintain patient, specimen and tracking data. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum one year experience in a similar role.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include visual acuity to study specimens under a microscope and the ability to distinguish colors; manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment; may require extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.
