Polysomnography Technologists Registered
Summary: Performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.
Job Responsibilities:Prepares patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures. Performs and documents testing. Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues under minimal supervision Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies. Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements. Other duties as assigned.
Education:High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum one year polysomnographic testing and scoring experience. One year of EEG, Respiratory Therapy or healthcare related experience may substitute.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:BLS Healthcare Provider. Needed within 18 months of hire.
Physical Requirements:Requires full range of body motion including standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients. Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
