Summary: This position performs a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients and equipment; greet and assist patients and visitors as directed.

Job Responsibilities: Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair, stretcher or beds as requested to include transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment. With assistance, transfers patients to or from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers as needed. During discharge, assist patients in and out of vehicles and escorts or transports them to and from hospital lobby, and open doors. Approach, greet and offer assistance and direction to patients and visitors. Communicates to clinical staff of patients' arrival and departure. Collects information and reports patient complaints to the appropriate clinician/Supervisor/Manager. Disinfects and maintains par levels of equipment throughout the hospital. Identifies malfunctioning ambulatory equipment and reports status to department for repair or replacement. Collects departmental equipment and delivers to the appropriate staging area. Other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: After selection and placement, requires three months on-the-job training and orientation to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures and patient emergency and safety procedures, proper body mechanics necessary to safely lift and move patients. Required to successfully complete the CPR for Family and Friends course within 6 months of employment.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None

Physical Requirements: Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.
