Job Details:
Summary: Assures the appropriate control, security, prescribing, preparation, dispensing and utilization of pharmaceuticals. This position is for new practitioners with basic professional order processing/verification responsibilities. Oversees and supervises activities of Pharmacy Technicians. Job Responsibilities: Supervises the activities of Pharmacy support personnel related to the timely and accurate preparation, processing, and delivery of medication orders. Checks final processed orders and approves for delivery or release. Verifies all products prepared and source containers and amounts used for accuracy. Maintains control and security of all drugs. Reviews, interprets, clarifies, enters, and verifies patients information and medication orders for processing within all hospital and pharmacy computer systems. Advises prescribers of medication-related issues and recommends alternate medications. Interacts routinely with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients. Provides general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from a university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy with or without a pharmacy practice residency.
Experience: After selection and placement into this position, the time requirement for on-the-job-training to learn various techniques and methods used at Cleveland Clinic is determined by the Manager/Coordinator. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure as a registered Pharmacist in the current state. Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.
