Ideal candidate will have Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on circuit design. 2 years experience in analog and digital circuit design including experience with high performance microcontrollers preferred.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

* design of analog and digital electronic circuits for medical sciences research and medical device prototypes.
* Design microcontroller circuits and write firmware and software code in support of these designs.
* Use of computer aided design and manufacturing applications to document, test and produce circuits and other components of medical device and research instrumentation prototypes.
* Use rapid circuit board prototyping equipment to produce circuit boards.
* Assemble circuits using both through-hole and surface mount technology components.
* Assemble prototypes that may include circuits, controls (including software), indicators, enclosures etc...
* Test and repair medical devices and research instrumentation.

Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on circuit design

Must have at least 2 years experience in analog and digital circuit design including experience with high performance microcontrollers.

Summary: Performs independent analysis, investigation, and planning of specific engineering criteria, characteristics and features to meet assignment goals.

Job Responsibilities: Performs routine engineering investigations in support of current research or product development efforts using engineering software analysis tools. Prepares design sketches or drawings for components, sub-assemblies, processes or equipment using CAD or 3-D solid modeling software. Assists with the design, development, and evaluation of prototype medical devices, equipment, and software. Assists with preparation and evaluation of test protocols and test specimens. Prepares charts, graphs and other documentation in support of articles for publication, project reports and grant applications. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's of Science degree in biomedical/mechanical/ electrical engineering or related field required.

Experience: Previous experience and co-op or internship preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None.

Physical Requirements: Duties may require some bending, lifting, standing, and sitting for long periods. Possible exposure to animal tissue, blood borne pathogens, chemical and biological reagents, and moving mechanical and electrical components. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination also required.
