This position will be working in the MRI IMRIS Suite.

Summary: Provides professional nursing care to a specified group of patients in a variety of healthcare settings.

Job Responsibilities: Assesses patient; completes focused physical exam and nursing assessment. Notifies physician of abnormal findings. Establishes a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team. Coordinates ongoing care. Performs telephone triage. Assists with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned. Initiates CPR and other emergency measures. Administers medications and treatments as ordered by a physician. Provides health education to patients and families. Develops, evaluates, adapts and documents education to meet learning needs and abilities of patients and families. Assists in the preparation of department specific education for patients and colleagues. Covers other nursing roles in the department. Maintains core competency in nursing (CPR, skills labs). Other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Solid knowledge of basic EKG and laboratory values to take appropriate action.

Experience: Minimum two years recent nursing experience. Demonstrated clinical competence. Telemetry experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current valid state RN license. BCLS required. ACLS preferred or obtained withing first year of hire. PALS certification for departments performing pediatric sedation.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work with radiation emitting equipment and wear appropriate protective garments. Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

For Radiology positions: Requires rotation into an MRI area that uses a magnetic field. Must be able to work in and around magnetic fields with or without reasonable accommodation.
