Summary: Provides professional nursing care to a specified group of patients in a variety of health care settings.
Job Responsibilities: Assesses patient; completes focused physical exam and nursing assessment. Notifies physician of abnormal findings. Establishes a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team. Administers medications and treatments as ordered by a physician. Provides health education to patients and families. Evaluates learning needs and abilities of patients and families and adapts education to meet those needs. Covers other nursing roles in the department. Facilitates smooth operation of the outpatient clinic desks. Assists in clinical research activities. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Minimum one year recent nursing experience. Telemetry experience preferred. Demonstrated clinical competence. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office systems preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current state RN license. BLS or ACLS required or must be obtained before initiation of patient care.
Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
