Cleveland Clinic, one of the largest and most respected hospital systems in the country, ranked by U.S.News and World Report as one of America’s top four hospitals, has been delivering exceptional, innovative medicine since our founding in 1921. As a tireless innovator of exceptional healthcare, we are always seeking better ways to serve our patients and set new standards for care.

In September 2011, we will again deliver on our promise to advance patient care with the opening of our new Special Delivery Unit located on our main campus. This vital addition to patient services will help those mothers whose pregnancies are complicated by serious maternal or fetal conditions and will join our Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory as a key component of Cleveland Clinic’s Fetal Care Center.

This new unit will feature a labor and delivery suite, an operating room for Cesarean sections, an advanced newborn resuscitation and treatment room, and an adjoining cath lab. It will also provide advanced diagnostic and treatment options for babies, from fetal MRI and in utero intervention to immediate newborn surgery, as well as a full spectrum of subspeciality care for critically ill mothers. Most importantly, world-class adult and pediatric specialists will be on hand during the entire birthing process, eliminating the need to separate mother and baby and making coordinating care for birthing complications far more efficient, effective, and ultimately more successful.
