Job Details: Summary: Provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. Must be available alternating weekends, as well as, holidays per CCHS PRN terms.
Job Responsibilities: Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis. Directs respiratory staff for delivery of care. Implements and monitors patient care plan. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities. Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes. Educates the patient and family about the illness and provides information about community support groups and other available programs. Other duties as assigned.
Education: On the job trainee prior to 1986 or must be a graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program. Must obtain RRT within 2 years of hire date.
Experience: None required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have successfully passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) CRT exam and possess and active Respiratory Care license in the State of Ohio. If hired by the Cleveland Clinic prior to 1/1/1994, must possess a valid license (Limited Permit) unissued through the Ohio Board of Respiratory Care. Must maintain a current CPR credential through the American Heart Association.
Physical Requirements: Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range. May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
