Summary: Oversee the administrative functions of multi-site research studies. Provides nursing care to research subjects enrolled in studies, maintaining continual clinical assessment of research subjects. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of assigned research protocol to coordinate the comprehensive and compliant execution of assigned protocols in accordance with research governing entity requirements, including but not limited to Sponsor, FDA and IRB requirements.
Job Responsibilities: Coordinates, implements and conducts multiple research projects, fully integrated with applicable research management systems and processes, as well as the practice of nursing. Oversee the administrative functions of multi-site research projects. Assists with the selection, education, testing and monitoring of research project patients. Collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and efficacy of study protocols and patient care. Monitors research subjects, conducting critical review and assessment of research subject medical status to identify research subject response to novel therapies, procedures or techniques. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of assigned research protocol to coordinate the comprehensive and compliant execution of assigned protocols in accordance with research governing entity requirements, including but not limited to Sponsor, FDA, and IRB requirements. Other duties as assigned.
Education: BSN preferred. Research certification from a recognized clinical research organization or advanced degree in health services research or allied health profession preferred.
Experience: Minimum three years clinical experience and three years clinical research experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current valid state RN license. Within 90 days, must successfully complete certification in Human Subjects Research as required by the Responsible Conduct of Research guidelines adopted by The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and any required certification for disease state.
Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking. Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
