SAN/NAS Storage Administrator
Summary: Plans, forecasts, justifies, implements and maintains all system and network hardware. Maintains online service level agreements to ensure productivity. Sets up and supports hardware, operating systems and application software. Supports the local and wide area network infrastructure. Interfaces with external vendors. Troubleshoots technical problems.
Job Responsibilities: Develops creative solutions. Presents options and makes recommendations for solutions. Evaluates vendor quotes; performs cost analysis and cost justification. Oversees resolution of system problems. Ensures maximum availability of all systems to internal and external users. Ensures complete documentation of all problem situations and resolutions by network/hardware support staff. Reports status of problem situations to management. Contributes to design, engineering and implementation of system infrastructure. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field. An additional five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
Experience: Minimum of five years directly related experience.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Three year’s experience in Storage management and administration. Additional experience may offset Bachelor’s degree requirement.
Technical knowledge in SAN/NAS design, implementation, maintenance and support. Brocade Storage Area Network Switches is desirable. Experience in EMC Symmetrix, Clariion storage arrays is required and Centera, Celerra experience would be beneficial. Experience in EMC Control Center and Navisphere software is required. Experience in Network Appliance and HP EVA disk arrays is also very beneficial. Experience with high availability methodologies, performance tuning, business recovery, security, UNIX, and Microsoft operating systems a plus. Experience in Veritas 6.X and above would be beneficial.
Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Requires a strong knowledge and application of analytical thinking, as well as excellent time management skills and the ability to manage and perform multiple tasks and projects.
* Ensure proper SAN Storage operation and implements proactive measures to ensure availability, reliability, and performance.
* Generate reports and analysis on storage usage.
* Installation and maintenance of Brocade, EMC, HP, Network Appliance and StorageTek equipment and software.
* Storage and SAN/NAS design for performance and tuning.
* Storage/SAN/NAS capacity management.
* Backup and Disaster Recovery support.
* User security administration 24 x 7 support
Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include manual dexterity sufficient to operate basic office equipment. Occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds.
