GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for full life cycle of very large databases and/or datamarts including requirements analysis, design, architecture, development and deployment of multi-million row database applications, new features and the correction of defects. Responsible for ongoing data loading and reconciliation, customer support, technical troubleshooting and maintenance of developed database software. Designs, develops and maintains a multitude of complex relational database reports. Performs quality assurance role. Prepares appropriate design and deployment artifacts per the standard development methodology. Leads and mentors others in the creation and use of standards for very large database development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance or a related discipline OR equivalent professional experience
- Excellent skills working with very large databases and/or data warehouses in loading, manipulating and reporting against multi-million row tables
- Expertise in software development and database life cycle including methodologies, tools and artifacts or requirements analysis, design, development and unit test, quality assurance, security and deployment logistics.
- Demonstrates ability to turn requirements into implemented database applications including user interfaces, business logic, database logic, data validation, data structures and automated reporting.
- Demonstrates leadership, excellent oral and written communication skills, structured problem solving and analytical thinking, organizational skills, ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment, as well as the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Required Length and Type of Experience:
- Five years of experience in the full life cycle of designing and developing very large databases, datamarts and/or data warehouse applications using Cleveland Clinic standard development tools including Microsoft development environments and relational database management systems such as SQL Server, Visual Studio, Enterprise Manager, Analysis Services, Integration Services, etc.
- Must have expertise in sophisticated relational database report design, development and maintenance using Cleveland Clinic standard relational database reporting tools such as Reporting Services, Microsoft Access and/or Business Objects.
-Experience must demonstrate that incumbent is a subject matter expert in multi-faced and complex design concepts and metholologies such as entity relationship diagrams and object models as well as proficiency in listening to customer requirements and architecting database solutions to meet business requirements. Must have demonstrated ability to independently architect, plan, construct and execute a successful implementation using industry-standard disciplines.
- Healthcare experience preferred
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry:
Microsoft DBA certification preferred.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands:
Manual dexterity to operate personal computers and business office equipment. Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Normal or corrected hearing and vision to communicat in person and on the phone.
