GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of a Staff Anesthesiologist performs the following functions for patients of all ages: Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery. Monitors the patient’s physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition. Administers emergency measures when complications arise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. A baccalaureate or higher degree from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.
2. Completion of an anesthesiologist assistant training program that has been accredited by the commission on accreditation of allied health education programs, or equivalent.
B. Required Length and Type of Experience
None
C. Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
1. Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants
2. Current, valid certificate of registration
3. Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code
