Job Details: The position of the Surgical Technician within the Department of Surgical Services is based on the philosophy of Peri-Operative Nursing developed by AORN. The Surgical Technician activities in the peri-operative, intra-operative, and post post-operative phases of the patient's experience. These activities are based on the theory, that the care of the Surgical Patient is based on creative application of knowledge, skills, and interpersonnal competencies. The ultimate goal of this position is to assist in the provision of quality individualized Patient Care. The role of the Surgical Technician includes peer education, maintenance of the sterile field, advocacy, efficient provision of resources, maintenance of supply inventory, enforcement of standards and coordination of care across the surgical setting. Requirements: Graduate from an approved course in Surgical Technology or related curriculum. Current BLS provider card . Competent in Surgical Anatomy Theory and Practice, Certification preferred. At least two years experience in a multi-disciplined or in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
