JOB SUMMARY:

Tier III-- Hospital Midlevel Provider (T31170, D29020) With the supervision of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730) performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. PA's are privileged by the Board of Governors.

PA's in the Hospital care role provide hospital based care to patients (more than 50% of their time) with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. Hospital care PA's practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic health problems. Must have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or 10 years clinical practice as a PA with licensure in Ohio (before Dec. 31, 2006), Eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the OSMB. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must have an Ohio license to practice as a PA before Dec. 31, 2006 if do not have a Master's degree in PA Studies. Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan development and invasive procedures as per clinical privileges. Depending on practice, surgical fields require minimum 2 years surgical experience. Current certification as a Physician Assistant. Incumbent must obtain State of Ohio licensure before employment, license to prescribe or be eligible. Must have approved Physician Supervision Agreement (listed on OSMB website) and signed addendum to Physician Supervision Agreement. Must be privileged by CCF's Credentialing Board. Typical physical demands include ability to lift and position patients ranging in weight from 50 to 350 pounds. Ability to push/pull patients to various positions, to move/push medical equipment and supplies. Requires extensive walking, sitting and stair climbing. Ability to obtain safety precautions against blood borne pathogens by using protective gear.

Tier III--Hospital Midlevel Provider (T31165, F29010, T3117S, F2907S) Nurse practitioners are licensed healthcare practitioners who provide primary and/or specialty nursing and medical care in a variety of inpatient, ambulatory and long term settings. Nurse practitioners function in collaboration with a physician, dentist or podiatrist according to a Standard Care Arrangement. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced education, usually at a Masters of doctoral level. Their practice emphasizes health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory Manager or an Advanced Pulmonary Function Technologist performs the following functions for patients of all ages: prepares pulmonary function equipment for use, performs basic pulmonary function tests, collects and evaluates clinical data, performs and evaluates quality control data and participates in educational activities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy training program. Must possess a working familiarity with a personal computer and keyboard. One year of experience in performing pulmonary function tests under the supervision of a physician medical director may substitute for the training program. Experience in spirometry testing, lung volume testing, diffusing capacity testing and arterial blood sampling and analysis. Must possess a valid Ohio license to practice Respiratory Care. Active licensure from another state may substitute. Ability to administer six minute walk tests at a pace of at least 3.0 mph (average walking speed), ability to move K cylinders onto dollies, ability to change gas cylinder regulators with a wrench and ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds in weight.
